There has never been a time when it has been made more obvious to us as to how privileged and fortunate, we are. While we have been doing our bit for years towards causes close to us, we now want to do more, share more and share sooner to balance the structures that have given us much more than what we need. We hesitated in making this pledge public for two reasons: the fear of not being able to follow through and a sense of awkwardness. The latter is still uncomfortable. We are reminded of this quote by artist Lilla Watson: “If you have come to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.” Hence, we are sharing this LivingMyPromise pledge with that deep sense of gratitude.
